New Website and Blog

Woohoo!

So I’m finally sharing what I’ve been working on. If you have me as a friend on facebook then you’ll already know that I launched my new wedding photography business last week. I have a new blog and website up, so this will be the last post I share on this blog page. The end of an era! It’s almost exactly two years after I wrote my first post here. I’m branching out to start a career in professional photography and with that comes a new, fresh, online location.

Here are the details of my new online locations if you’d like to continue following me –

facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/haidybaskinphotography

website: haidybaskinphotography.com

new blog: haidybaskin.com

And here’s a small taste of my work so far :)

Learning to love Photoshop + RAM

Flowers

In the course of getting things prepared for my upcoming project, I have been spending a lot of time with photoshop. I have really enjoyed putting together my own action sets. If you don’t know the ins and outs of photoshop actions, they are pretty much a recorded set of operations that you can playback on other images.

Finding a set of procedures that works well and recording it into actions has been my preoccupation the past few weeks. I love the continuity it can give my images, but also that it allows me to edit much faster!

I’m also very excited today because the 16GB of RAM I ordered last week arrived in the mail. Woohoo! This means my computer is running so much faster and I don’t see the little rainbow wheel on my screen anymore when I’m editing. That is definitely something to celebrate! I was having problems with my desktop computer getting really slow and flustered whenever I had a few programs open at the same time…especially Lightroom and Photoshop. So this update has really made things so much easier.

I know this is a really random photography related post…but its what’s been on my mind 24/7 at the moment.

I hope your weekend was fabulous and that your week is even better!

Happy Monday xx

*And just in case you’d like to know, I use Adobe Lightroom 3 and Adobe Photoshop CS6.

Dave & Kym’s Wedding

At the end of December our lovely friends Dave and Kym got married. Dave is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet; Kym is kind, generous and full of life.

It was so nice to see them start this new chapter in their lives together. Here are some pictures of their wedding day.

I want to share some of the outakes from yesterday’s post. I just couldn’t quite fit all the pictures in to one post, so here are some extras from Aveline and Brett’s wedding day.

I’d like to thank Elizabeth and Lynden again for taking some of these pictures :)12Dec_16_10617-Edit

Dad’s Birthday

This sickness has really stuck around! I was feeling a better after Monday’s post only to get worse the last couple of days. I have spent most of the days sleeping and coughing. Then suddenly, this afternoon I’m feeling a bit better. Hopefully this trend continues and I’ll be feeling completely well in no time.

Anyway, last month we celebrated my dad’s birthday. When Lynden and I arrived at my parent’s place, the older ‘kids’ were playing chess and chinese checkers.

Meanwhile, the little kids ran around, jumped and zoomed past. I think Ethan is just having a little rest between runs here :)

And at one point I managed to accidentally catch him mid-fall. Hehe.

Ethan had hurt himself when he fell over at church or something previously (I forget exactly how it happened) and he had the cutest red scratch on his nose.

The big kids transitioned from games to computers at some point while lunch was being prepared.

I’m pretty sure they were watching youtube videos at this point.

In our family, we’ve discovered that my brother and sister look more like my dad but are very similar to my mum in personality and temperament; whereas I look like my mum but am very similar to my dad in personality and temperament.

However, I never realised how similar my mannerisms were to my dad’s until I went through the pictures from his birthday. All his facial expressions and movements are just like mine!

It was a lovely day so we spent most of our time in the backyard (where I got hit in the head with a ball while taking a picture – thanks Lynden!).

The handsome birthday boy!

This is Ethan showing me his chocolate and wanting me to take a picture of it :)

Even though the weather wasn’t quite warm enough for swimming, it was nice enough for some splashing.

But don’t worry, me and my camera weren’t the only one’s supervising the kids next to the water; my dad was right beside them the whole time.

I hope you’ve had a wonderful week so far xx

Araluen

I told Lynden I wanted to go to a park.

I particularly wanted to go to a park with “pretty flowers and tall trees”.

He wasn’t too keen on driving any sort of distance to get to a park that day, but eventually I convinced him to make the drive to Araluen for a mini picnic together.

It was so nice to lie in the sun and enjoy the day; we don’t do that enough. Thanks for taking me mini-picnicing honey.

I always ask Lynden to take a picture of me (in case you haven’t noticed :P) which makes me very unlike most photographers who prefer to stay behind the lens. I personally love being behind the lens…but I also don’t mind being in front of it. I hope you don’t think I’m narcissistic! I just like reliving memories and I like remembering what I was like. I think it’ll be nice for my future kids to see pictures of me before they were born; I love those pictures of my mum and dad.

Having said that, here is Lynden pretending to be a king on his throne. I love taking pictures of him :)

I also took some pictures of the pretty flowers we’d travelled all that way to see.

Aren’t they fascinating!

Nature is a beautiful thing.

Have an amazing weekend!
