Éros: romantic love

Welcome to the week of romance and passion!

Films and books are centred around this kind of love; songs and poems are written about it.

Love makes the world go round. All you need is love. Love is a many splendored thing. Love me tender. I can’t stop loving you. Addicted to love. Crazy in love. My love. Bleeding love. We found love.

And it just goes on and on.

To have had the romance of this love, to have felt this passion is to have lived in a different universe, an incredible universe. It creates new perspectives and has the ability to change a man (or a woman) and make them feel like they can conquer the world. There are no limits to this love’s passion and desire, to this love’s longing and depth – it is indeed a dangerous thing.

In the English language, it is often thought that the word love means romantic love. Surely there must be a reason that so many have pondered on romantic love, that so many have fallen into its spell.

Surely there must be something wondrous about it.

I think they’re right: love makes the world go round.
