As I wandered my backyard yesterday taking pictures of gates and pegs, I happened to cross paths with this little guy. He is a lot smaller than he appears in the picture. In fact I’m not really sure how I even spotted him.
At the moment I only have an 18-55mm lens on my camera, and the maximum macro capabilities on it are 0.25 meters – not great. I got as close as I could without losing any focus and then zoomed my lens right in to its maximum capacity. I was actually pretty pleased with how close I was able to get. I didn’t have a lot of hope of getting something great, yet I love the detail visible on his little back.
You can’t see it in this picture, but he was actually missing his front left leg. I wonder what kind of battles this tiny warrior has fought in? A seven-legged spider surely has some good stories to tell.
