New Website and Blog

So I’m finally sharing what I’ve been working on. If you have me as a friend on facebook then you’ll already know that I launched my new wedding photography business last week. I have a new blog and website up, so this will be the last post I share on this blog page. The end of an era! It’s almost exactly two years after I wrote my first post here. I’m branching out to start a career in professional photography and with that comes a new, fresh, online location.

Here are the details of my new online locations if you’d like to continue following me –

More images and information going up on my new blog soon. For now, you can find more images on my website.

Thanks for being a part of this blog over the last two years xox

Learning to love Photoshop + RAM

In the course of getting things prepared for my upcoming project, I have been spending a lot of time with photoshop. I have really enjoyed putting together my own action sets. If you don’t know the ins and outs of photoshop actions, they are pretty much a recorded set of operations that you can playback on other images.

Finding a set of procedures that works well and recording it into actions has been my preoccupation the past few weeks. I love the continuity it can give my images, but also that it allows me to edit much faster!

I’m also very excited today because the 16GB of RAM I ordered last week arrived in the mail. Woohoo! This means my computer is running so much faster and I don’t see the little rainbow wheel on my screen anymore when I’m editing. That is definitely something to celebrate! I was having problems with my desktop computer getting really slow and flustered whenever I had a few programs open at the same time…especially Lightroom and Photoshop. So this update has really made things so much easier.

I know this is a really random photography related post…but its what’s been on my mind 24/7 at the moment.

I hope your weekend was fabulous and that your week is even better!

Happy Monday xx

*And just in case you’d like to know, I use Adobe Lightroom 3 and Adobe Photoshop CS6.

Things to come

I can’t wait to share with you what I’ve been working on recently!

I won’t be posting on the blog as frequently in the next couple of weeks, but watch this space for an update soon :)

Because ducks are cool!

Have you ever wanted to see a lot of pictures of ducks?

Well, today is your lucky day!!!

The duck above looks angry, but it was actually just stretching its wings :)

So why do I have all these duck pictures?

Well, Nicole and I were just roaming random areas looking for cool photo locations. We found ourselves by a lake in a residential estate and we both physically jumped when we saw this guy…

Looks aren’t everything people! I bet he’s the coolest duck/bird of the whole flock/pack/posse (whatever a group of ducks is called).

I hope you have a great weekend!

Remember, it’s personality that counts :)

anniversaries and hummus

As you know, Lynden and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary.

It was my year to organise our date, so I contacted Lynden’s favourite Lebanese restaurant and made a booking. Turns out we were their first customers of 2013. Can I hear anybody say complimentary hummus! So delicious. After our dinner, we decided to go to the  foreshore and lie in the sun. It was a beautiful day for a picnic.

That’s where we took these pictures…

I’m so fortunate that Lynden is always so willing to let me grab some pictures of him and then also willing to snap some of me. It’s nice to have someone in your life that respects the things that are important to you.

I’m not particularly sentimental about things but I love having pictures of important moments in my life; even the little impromptu picnics.

Exercise Schedule

Ok, so I finally have a health update for you!

I literally just weighed myself and I am exactly 61kgs. Not too bad (considering all the ice cream I’ve been eating lately).

In the hopes of getting healthier, I signed up for a 5k run that will happen in February. I signed up for it in December and I still haven’t done anything to prepare. Sigh.

Since there are now very limited days left until the 5k, I have created a very basic exercise schedule for myself, which includes both strength and cardio workouts. I’m hoping to continue on this schedule beyond the run and adapt it to my needs as I go.

Here it is.

Exercise Schedule

I’ll be starting this schedule from the 1st of Feb (this Friday).

Wish me luck!

Family lunch and pool fun

We love spending time with both sides of our family. Usually there’s a lot of kids, which always means a lot of laughter and running around. I love it; they’re always up to something.

On this particular afternoon, we were celebrating the birthday of one of Lynden’s cousins. I hope you enjoy the pictures :)

^ There’s something special about cousins, isn’t there?

^ Even though sometimes we just want to be left alone, hehe.

This kid is crazy. Love it!

I’m not entirely sure what happened to Lynden in this picture, but it looks like Michelle thought it was pretty funny, hehe.13Jan_05_12648-Edit

Cutie!13Jan_05_12720-EditI hope you had a lovely weekend. We celebrated a long weekend over here for Australia Day (well, apparently it’s called citizens day now…but I’m not too sure if I like that).

It was so nice to catch up with friends and celebrate this amazing country we live in. But, I think it’s also important to remember the impact of colonisation on the Indigenous People of Australia – let’s not forget what that would have meant for them.

I hope we can all continue to celebrate and enjoy this country together.

Happy Tuesday xox

The cat in the tree

Asterix is such a trusting cat.

He climbs trees all the time and sometimes, when he’s feeling especially lazy, he’ll see us and meow for us to catch him. He’ll make his way partway down the tree then let go, because he just knows I’ll catch him.

I love that about him.

Speaking of animals in trees…as we pulled into our driveway last night, Lynden and I saw this owl in one of our trees (a brown owl maybe?). It was so cool to see him just perched there. His head was doing the whole owl thing; shifting side to side.

13Jan_23_12853-EditI’ve decided that if Lynden was an animal, he’d be an owl. Either that, or a bear.

Happy Thursday!

My New Diary

Would you like to see my new 2013 diary?

Probably not, but here it is anyway because I think it’s just so cute!

It’s the little things in life :)

I bought this Moleskine diary online last week and it arrived yesterday. If you’ve ever put your hand next to mine, you’re probably aware that I have the smallest adult hands in the world. So this picture will show you how tiny this diary is.13Jan_22_12852-EditNext year I will probably buy a larger one, but I love the small chunky quality of this one :)

Can you tell I love stationary?!

Dave & Kym’s Wedding

At the end of December our lovely friends Dave and Kym got married. Dave is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet; Kym is kind, generous and full of life.

It was so nice to see them start this new chapter in their lives together. Here are some pictures of their wedding day.

6Congratulations Kym and Dave!
